Itinerary
Day 1 – Touchdown in Kigali
If you arrive early, take a moment to delve into Kigali’s history with a city tour, including a poignant visit to the Nyamata Memorial site, a testament to the 1994 genocide’s tragic events.
Day 2 – Journey to Volcanoes National Park
Explore the mountainous haven of the Volcanoes National Park, a sanctuary for the elusive mountain gorilla. Immerse yourself in its diverse ecosystems, ranging from bamboo forests to open grasslands. Conclude your day with bird-watching, keeping an eye out for unique species. Overnight at Kinigi Guesthouse or Virunga Lodge.
Day 3 – Into the Heart of Gorilla Territory
Embrace an unforgettable gorilla tracking experience and later, birding amidst the verdant forest. Overnight stay at Kinigi Guesthouse or Virunga Lodge.
Day 4 – Golden Monkeys & Local Insights
Dive into another tracking experience, this time in search of the shimmering golden monkeys. Later, engage with the local community through a village walk.
Day 5 – A Glimpse of Parc National Nyungwe
Travel to Parc National Nyungwe and engage in a nature walk amidst the dense forest. Stay alert for bird species like the Great Blue Turaco and other endemics. Rest at ORTPN Guesthouse or Gisakura Guesthouse.
Day 6 – Chimpanzee Adventure in Cyamudongo
Start your day with an early breakfast, heading to the Cyamudongo forest for chimpanzee tracking. Experience the dense forest, home to a healthy population of chimpanzees and L’Hoest’s monkey. Night at ORTPN Guesthouse.
Day 7 – Farewell to Rwanda
Transfer back to Kigali, cherishing the memories and prepare for your onward journey. Safe travels!
