Virunga Gorilla Exploration
This trip is an amazing chance to visit a country that few tourists see – the Congo. You will start your adventure in Virunga National Park is in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, on the border of Uganda and Rwanda. Virunga is Africa’s oldest national park and is also the continent’s most biologically diverse protected area. The park’s 7800 km² includes forests, savannahs, lava plains, swamps, erosion valleys, active volcanoes and the glaciated peaks of the Rwenzori mountains. This still a relatively undiscovered gem, is home to about a quarter of the world’s critically endangered mountain gorillas. Trekking through this vast and beautiful forest to meet the gorillas or climb one of the many volcanoes will suit all of those with an unquenchable thirst for the next chapter in their African adventure. After this epic trip into the Congo, you will return to Nairobi and unwind at the legendary Giraffe Manor. You will then fly to the highlands of northern Kenya, see indigenous animals such as rhinoceros, relax in luxury tented camps and if you wish, take part in all manner of outdoor activities from trekking to horse riding, even fly-camping deep in the bush.
